Some background on the Freyfechter Rank Prize Play
Anyone may attempt to qualify for the prize play at one of our events, all that is required is a 50% passing grade on our online test (members side and by members we mean website members not MFFG members, anyone may sit for our rank test.)
Once the online test is passed the prospective tester must fight a 30 mins prize play and be given a peer review test in person by experienced MFFG members. A minimum of 50% of your fights must end in clear wins to pass the test.

Some background on the 2011 Freyfechter Rank Prize Play at DK 2011
Orignally the test was as many fights as possible in 30 mins with any loss or double kill not counting and so only clear wins would count as a positive for your test. During our first test we used the double kill criteria to handle do-overs or inconclusive fights, this unfairly stacked the deck agains tthe testers and after some deliberation by the judges a decision was made to adjust the amount of double kills counted to reflect this mistake.
This change in the application of the scoring means we will be taking the Freyfechter ranks of Mike cartier and Jon Wolfe and treating them as provisional and requiring a re-fight of the prize play within the next 2 years to keep the rank. Dave Parker passed the test even before the scoring change so this does not effect him. But Jon and Mike would have just barely failed (as you can see by the scoring) without the scoring change, So to keep things proper we will re-do the prize in the next 2 years for the right to keep the Freyfechter Rank. This is to ensure the integrity of our ranking system which is meant to be skill and knowledge based and of some substance to reflect our methodology of research, martial intent, and combat sports application with an emphasis on the concept of a martial art.
